The Missionary sisters on Papua New Guinea

The first Steyler Missionary Sisters were sent from Germany to New Guinea on 21st January 1899. When the sisters arrived in what was then a German colony, the indigenous people still lived life as if they were in the Stone Age. The sisters built schools and hospitals, and began to prepare the people to encounter the modern world. Now, one hundred years later, the sisters are faced with different challenges: Aids, lack of education and corruption.
